Governor’s Camp

Governor’s Camp has become synonymous with a fantastic safari experience. Situated in the northern Masai Mara, the setting is so incredible that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya’s colonial governors and their royal visitors back in the early days of safari. Governor’s Camp offers luxurious accommodation under canvas and a social atmosphere, being one of the larger camps in the area, and is loved by its visitors for providing a first class unforgettable safari service.

It’s currently the camp of choice for the BBC big cat diary team. Offering 3 game drives each day, it gives you even more chance to experience the daily drama of life in the Masai Mara and take away even more fantastic memories.
This entire safari camp is under canvas, but it has all the comforts of a five star hotel. The 38 tents are in the classic safari style and are spacious and tasteful. Some of the 37 tents line the riverbank; tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River while others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. Each tent has its own en suite bathroom with constant hot and cold running water, flushing toilets and even bidets. Enjoy excellent cuisine by candlelight taking pleasure in a truly unforgettable experience.
Activities include 3 game drives per day, balloon safaris, bush walks, champagne bush breakfasts, sundowners, cultural visits to Maasai villages or community projects supported by Governors and excursions to Lake Victoria can be arranged.
To get there, fly into the Musiara airstrip, 45 minutes flight from Nairobi and then transfer for 15 minutes to reach the camp. To road transfer from Nairobi takes about 6 hours.
